LEGENDS ARE REAL WHEN YOU'RE LIVING IN TEXAS

The Trail Riders rode by my ranch yesterday,
my neighbors on horseback clip-clopping  away;
invoking the stories of old, as respects us  -
Legends are real when you're living in Texas.

Cowboys still ride and the Alamo stands
where waters roll wide as the old Rio Grande's;
fight to be free as the Good Lord directs us -
Legends are real when you're living in Texas.

It's hotter than Hell or it's colder than ice,
but those three days of Spring seem awfully nice;
hailstorms bring twisters as Nature inflects us  -
Legends are real when you're living in Texas.

We watched the Trail Riders ride out of our sight,
and I couldn't help but to whoop with delight,
joy in this beautiful world that reflects us  -
