Gaze into the starry void
then leap into the sky;
over hill and countryside
I swoop, and soar and fly - 

Above my virtual domain
filled with chests of gold
and all the goods and industry
this world of wealth can hold - 

Until the Monsters come and blow
it all to smithereens;
and then I am reminded of
the worlds I'm in-betweens...

the world of real life challenges
and dishes in the sink;
of gardens that won't grow themselves
and nations on the brink

of wars and death and pestilence
and bills that must be paid - 
of how my chests are full of food
and blocks that must be laid

by hand. The toil of work and sweat
in labouring is done;
and while it's highly admirable
it sometimes is no fun...

digging dirt and chopping wood
is ever work, not play; 
then Monsters come and sidle up
to steal it all away...

planning for the pain
is part of Real and Online Dreams -
one must stop the Monsters
lest they turn them into memes.

So in Leisure, so in Life; 
a lesson can be found -
one must stop the Monsters
or they'll put you in the ground.
